On 7 February 2017 Government launched a consultation on its latest housing white paper, “Fixing our broken housing market”. It outlines how Government intends to meet its stated aim of building one million homes by 2020.
The paper praises housing associations’ recent record for housebuilding and puts measures in place to build upon this. It commits Government to clarifying rent policy from 2020. And reiterates the availability of £7.1bn through the newly-expanded and more flexible 2016/21 Affordable Homes Programme. It challenges housing associations to deliver more homes, whilst also driving further efficiencies.
